From Kärntnerstraße to Belvederegasse, from Korea to Japan: Marion Kuzmany’s architecture and design tour begins at the Korean Cultural Center and its exhibition on the connection between the traditional Korean alphabet Hangeul and contemporary product design. The tour continues along the design mile Margaretenstraße, the lively Freihausviertel district, and the culturally rich Schleifmühlgasse, where architecturally outstanding shops stand side by side with galleries and current exhibitions from the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. Passing remarkable historical buildings and places that describe the development of the neighborhood and district, participants walk to the studio of design.mikimartinek, where the designer presents her reinterpretation of the traditional Japanese furoshiki – a square cloth used for packaging and carrying bags. The tour ends at Belvederegasse with materialnomaden, experts in reuse and circular design in building culture.
