Following the highly successful ARCH ON TOUR to South Korea in May 2026, we are delighted to offer a second trip to the country! The tour again starts in the vibrant city of Seoul, where we extensively explore its diverse neighborhoods in four exciting days. From historical milestones, temples and palaces to contemporary highlights of local and international architects - including the recently opened Photo Museum-Photo SeMA by Jadric Architektur, the Odong Forest Library by Unsangdong Architects, and the SongEun Art and Cultural Foundation by Herzog & de Meuron and the new Centre Pompidou venue - outstanding urban interventions, walks to hidden architectural treasures, galleries, shops, and night markets are on our agenda.

Heading west, we visit the Médongaule Gardens, where traditional Korean design elements meet contemporary features - such as the new Seowon Academy by IROJE. Nearby, Tadao Ando’s Museum SAN creates a "Gesamtkunstwerk" of space, art and nature with its paper museum the James Turrell Hall, and the stone garden embedded in the structured landscape. Continuing south, we visit the Banjja Yugi Museum, dedicated to hand-forged bronze tableware and housed in a building that showcases the traditional rammed-earth wall technique as a modern intervention within a historic structure. At Hahoe Folk Village, we explore traditional Hanok houses and enjoy an atmospheric overnight stay at the exceptional Rakkojae Hahoe Hanok Hotel. The following day is dedicated to the expansive landscape park of the Sayuwon Arboretum, featuring numerous pavilions and sculptural works by architects such as IROJE and Álvaro Siza.

The journey continues to Busan, Korea’s southernmost port city. There, alongside Coop Himmelb(l)au’s legendary Cinema Center, we explore fascinating architecture along the rugged coastline - including Snøhetta’s new Busan Opera House, art museums, adaptive reused port and industrial buildings, and intriguing urban interventions. Our beautiful hotel on Haeundae Beach serves as both a perfect starting point for our excursions and a refreshing conclusion to our tour along the maritime Korea Strait, which connects the Sea of Japan with the Yellow Sea.

The new ARCH ON TOUR will, as always, be expert accompanied and guided by international and local architects on site and offers besides valuable architectural insights authentic culinary delights and leisure activities.
