The summer tour takes us from new urban developments on the Seine, outstanding restoration in historical substances, such as the Bourse de Commerce, Bibliotheque Nationale, Forum Les Halles and the Samaritaine department store, as well as to other new highlights in Paris. A fast TGV train ride brings us to the historic capital of Provence, Aix, where we meet a high densitiy of art, culture and architecture - from Cezanne's studio to the art parcours in the landscape garden of Château La Coste to Vasarelys fascinating works in his foundation.
The tour continues to the Mediterranean coast and the port city of Marseille, where not only the icon of Le Corbusier's Unité d'habitation and the buildings created for the Capital of Culture - such as the "Mucem" embedded between the coast and the historic fort Saint Jean and Foster's "canopy" reflecting the fish market in the old harbor - are always worth a visit.
The buildings and works by local and international architects and artists make up the versatile programme, in which the percentage of Japanese architects - Tadao Ando, Shigeru Ban, Kengo Kuma, SANAA - in French building activity being remarkably high.
Interesting hotels in the best locations provide the basis, culinary delights accompany our inspiring days and the speed-boat tour in the impressive limestone bays of the Calanques awakens all our spirits!
