ARCH ON TOUR 16_LONDON - FOLKESTONE TRIENNALE

Highlights in the city and art on the coast

13-17 SEPTEMBER 2017

Concept and moderation: Marion Kuzmany / ARCH ON TOUR

Consultant: Kerstin Gust / Gust & Grünhagen

Guided tours: Alastair Upton / Folkestone Triennial; as well as other architects and experts in numerous buildings, galleries and museums on site

Tour operator: Mondial GmbH & Co. KG

Based on the architectural highlights of the vibrant cultural metropolis of London - including the New Design Museum in Kensington Gardens and the addition of the Tate Modern by Herzog & de Meuron - ARCH ON TOUR takes you on a refreshing excursion to the southeastern English coast of the counties of Kent and East Sussex. Steep cliffs and legendary beaches of the former London holiday idyll inspire a new audience, the discreet charm of the British Coney Island on the English Channel offers the up-and-coming artistic landscape and its current buildings a grandiose backdrop. By train, bus or bike we explore selected architecture, the most beautiful places in the region and new art museums by the sea, where visits to exhibitions can be combined with walks on the beach.

In addition to the 57th Art Biennale in Venice and documenta 14 in Kassel and Athens, the still largely undiscovered Folkestone Triennale confidently joins the series of major art events of 2017. With "double edge", her curator Lewis Biggs chose a title that is promisingly ambiguous. As part of a special tour, the concept of this year's Folkestone Triennial and highlights of the program will be presented.
