The Bauhaus was founded on April 1, 1919 by Walter Gropius in Weimar. He called top artists to Weimar as “masters”, including Lyonel Feininger, Johannes Itten, Paul Klee, Oskar Schlemmer, Wassily Kandinsky and László Moholy-Nagy. This is where the idea of the Bauhaus began and the implementation of the idea To teach craft and art in parallel. On the occasion of the founding anniversary, numerous exhibitions and events take place across Germany. In cooperation with relevant institutions, ARCH ON TOUR takes you on a selected "Grand Tour of Modernism" and shows the best examples and locations for BAUHAUS 100 - compact - and a little more ...
Starting from Berlin, a day is dedicated to each city and its respective highlights. You can visit modern classics by Walter Gropius, Mies van Rohe's early buildings in Krefeld, finds from post-war modernism and contemporary projects - such as the recently completed Bauhaus museums in Dessau and Weimar. At the end of the day, exquisite works by well-known international artists will refresh you in their special setting on Museum Island Hombroich.
