With the restoration of Villa Beer and its opening to visitors, Vienna has become significantly richer with one of the few accessible, valuable architectural examples of Viennese modernism!

During our expert guided tour of the architecture and history of the house, we explore the entire villa and garden as well as all the remarkable details of the exquisite restoration, which was brilliantly carried out over several years of collaboration under the direction of Lothar Trierenberg and the Villa Beer Foundation with architect Christian Prasser, the Federal Monuments Office and Auböck + Karasz Landscape Architects. The elaborate interior design includes originals as well as reconstructed furniture and lighting based on designs by Josef Frank and Oskar Wlach, fabrics from Svensk Tenn, also based on Josef Frank's original designs, careful restoration of the special "checkerboard parquet" and reproductions of the custom made rubber flooring, light switches, and much more.

In his essay “The House as Path and Place” (published in: “Der Baumeister”, 1931) Josef Frank compares the interior spaces and routing of the house with the spatial sequence of a city. The staircase plays a essential element, as in the present example of Villa Beer, where the central staircase connects the living areas in a unique way and a gallery-like platform with a piano becomes the staged center of the house.

We have the special opportunity to experience the entire Villa Beer exclusively in our small group and to enjoy the extraordinary spatial concept at a champagne reception while relaxing in the villas´living rooms.
