ARCH ON TOUR 68_STOCKHOLM - GOTLAND

urban island worlds
JUNE 12 -17, 2024

Concept and expert accompaniment:

Marion Kuzmany / ARCH ON TOUR in cooperation with Staffan Schartner / omniplan,

as well as other local experts and architects: Martina Eriksson / m. arkitektur; a.o.

consultant: Gunnar Danielsson

tour operator: Mondial GmbH & Co. KG

The impressive city of Stockholm with its 14 islands connected by bridges and tunnels between the sparkling sea is the destination of our new ARCH ON TOUR in daylight-filled June. Accompanied by the Stockholm based architect Staffan Schartner, we explore the urban development of relevant districts from different eras, exemplary conversions of industrial buildings and future-orientated timber structures. Walks through various neighborhoods accompanied by tranquil boat tours and authentic cuisine describe our inspiring days in Stockholm.

A ferry boat takes us southwards into the middle of the Baltic Sea to the island of Gotland, which enchants with its medieval town center of Visby and spectacular natural landscapes as well as offers an excellent cuisine. In the north of the island, remarkable projects were created by local teams of architects, which we explore on a Sunday tour accompanied by the architect Martina Eriksson. The tour takes us to villas and award-winning timber structures, by bicyle to amazing bunker conversions in Bungenäs and to unconventional private homes on Furillen peninsula, which is characterized by limestone mining.

At the end of the trip we have time to enjoy a short visit to the city center in Uppsala.

As always, we are looking forward to an interesting tour with our enthusiastic participants!
